The Dance of the Trees
by Mary Ellen South
Their leaves have fallen
Now, begins the dance.
Branches swaying in the wind
Silhouettes of grace.
The coat of colors is gone,
Stark nakedness is seen.
Poetry designed by a higher power
Natures tall structures in full motion.
Intricate balance as the circus begins,
Squirrels jump from limb to limb.
Blue jays and crows battle for a perch
Holding fast for a ride.
Most look to trees with their bountiful color
The palette of yellows, orange and brown.
I wait for the bareness and admire
Nature's artistry- so powerful, yet serene.
